Everyone hasn’t made the transition to Gmail. Of the many who have, a few have also chosen to keep their old Yahoo accounts active. Maybe you also have an old Yahoo account you don’t want to give up. Adding a Yahoo account to Gmail is a convenient way to manage multiple email accounts from a single inbox.

In this post, we’ll show you how to integrate your Yahoo email with Gmail. First, let’s examine whether adding a Yahoo account to Gmail is even possible. So, if you’re ready to make your emailing experience easier, let's get into it!

Can you add a Yahoo account to Gmail?

Technically speaking, you can’t add a Yahoo account to your Gmail in the same manner you can add another Gmail account. Learn how to add another Gmail account to iPhone and Android.

However, if your goal is to simplify your life by ensuring easy access to your Yahoo emails, there’s another way. You can choose to transfer your Yahoo emails to your Gmail account.

It’s different from adding an account, but the effect is the same. You get access to your emails without the hassle of constantly opening more tabs and signing into two separate accounts. Sounds good? Let’s see the process.

How to transfer Yahoo emails to a Gmail account

Step 1: Open the Account and Import settings

Sign into your Gmail account.

On the inbox page, click the settings button (gear icon) at the top right corner. This will open the quick settings. Then click the ‘See all settings’ button.

Switch over to the ‘Accounts and Import’ tab from the ‘General’ tab.

Step 2: Import mail and contacts

Click on the ‘Import mail and contacts’ button.

Step 3: Enter Yahoo email address

A pop-up window will now prompt you to enter the Yahoo email address from which you want to import your emails. Enter the Yahoo email address and click ‘Continue’.

Step 4: Sign in to Yahoo account

At this point, you’ll have to sign into your Yahoo account to allow the import.

Once you’ve signed into your Yahoo account, you’ll encounter a notification for allowing permission for the import. Click ‘Agree’.

Step 5: Start importing

You’ll also be asked to select options for what you want to import from your Yahoo account now. Along with your existing emails, you can also import your Yahoo contacts and any new emails for the next 30 days. After selecting your import options, click ‘Start import’.

Once the import begins, Gmail will again display a notification. It’s important to note that your imported messages can take up to two days to show in your Gmail inbox.

Importing messages is a great way to consolidate your emails. Now, consider setting up an alias for imported messages in Gmail. Using an alias to reply to imported messages will ensure that recipients see your Yahoo email address instead of your Gmail address. This is crucial for maintaining consistency in your email communications.
