YAMM Polls - Your assistant for greater and faster feedback

Ask quick questions in your emails, like “Are you planning to come?” or “Which option do you prefer?”, and let recipients reply instantly by clicking a link instead of writing a full response. YAMM Polls makes it easy to insert a mini form directly into your email draft and automatically collects all responses in your connected Google Sheet.

This article is for users who want to insert simple one-question forms in their emails and collect short answers. If you need to include multiple questions or more complex forms with multiple-choice options, use Google Forms instead.

Why use YAMM Polls?

When you ask a question with YAMM Polls, you make it quick and easy for recipients to reply. They can choose their answer directly from your email with a single click.

Here are a few examples:

  • You’re inviting friends or colleagues to an event (wedding, party, corporate gathering, etc.) and need to know who will attend.

  • As a product manager, you’re announcing new features and want to collect quick feedback.

  • You’re reaching out to prospects to understand their needs and see if they’re interested in what you’re offering.

All your form links must start with the following syntax:

https://app.yamm.com?response=YOUR_RESPONSE

Where YOUR_RESPONSE corresponds to the response you want to collect.

Let’s take an example where you ask a YAMM customer for feedback. To test this feature, you can copy our simple Google Docs template and use it in your Gmail draft:

In this example, the form includes three responses: Yes, No, and Maybe.

Here’s a table showing the corresponding links for each answer:

Response / AnswerLink to insert in your Gmail Draft
Yeshttps://app.yamm.com?response=Yes
Nohttps://app.yamm.com?response=No
Maybehttps://app.yamm.com?response=Maybe
info

The answers will appear in your Google Sheet exactly as they appear at the end of the links (case-sensitive). For example, If you insert https://app.yamm.com?response=MAYBE, the recorded answer will be MAYBE.

In your Gmail draft, insert your links with their corresponding answers just like any regular link. You can add them to images, buttons, or simple text.

2. Activate the tracker and send your mail merge

Once your template is ready, open YAMM, activate the tracker, and send your mail merge.

In the Start Mail Merge window, make sure the option Track emails opened, clicked or bounced is selected before sending.

This ensures that YAMM can record when recipients open your email, click on a link, or if the email bounces.

YAMM Polls don’t work with test emails. Responses are only recorded when the email is sent through an actual mail merge.

3. Collect all responses and view the results

When recipients answer your form, they’re redirected to a confirmation page that shows their response has been recorded by YAMM Polls.

Once responses are submitted, go back to your Google Sheet. You’ll see a new column named YAMM Poll. This column lists each recipient’s answer, allowing you to review all responses at a glance.

When inserting mini-forms to your Gmail draft, all responses are collected in real-time by our tracking tool. It means that people can change their answer by clicking another link from your email sent. We recommend opening the Tracking Report sidebar again (Extensions > Yet Another Mail Merge: Mail Merge for Gmail > Open tracking report) to get their latest answers.
