Including social media icons in your Gmail signature is a fantastic way to promote your online presence. When you do this, you not only give your recipients easy access to your social media profiles but also provide them a way to connect with you beyond just email.
Whether you're a business professional, an entrepreneur, or a social media enthusiast, adding social media icons to your Gmail signature can enhance your online visibility and presence.
In this post, we’ll guide you through a simple step-by-step process of how to add social media icons to your Gmail signature. Let’s begin.
How to add social media icons to email signature in Gmail
Adding social media icons to your Gmail signatures looks intimidating, but it’s actually a simple process. Here are the steps.
Step 1: Download the icons you want
The first thing to do is to download the images of the social media icons you want to display in your signature. There are many free resources on the web for doing this.
It’s important to have similar-sized and scaled-down images so that they are displayed correctly on mobile. The most easily usable image size and type for your purpose is 32x32 PNG.
Step 2: Open Gmail settings
Now, click the gear icon in the top right corner of your Gmail. This will open up the quick settings. Next, click the “See all settings” to open the detailed settings page.
Step 3: Go to signature settings
The main settings page opens under the “General” tab by default. Scroll down to find the Signature settings.
Step 4: Click “Insert image” in signature
Ensure that the signature you want to edit is selected, and then click the “Insert Image” button.
Step 5: Insert social media icons
A new window will open when you click the Insert image button. There are multiple ways to insert an image into your Gmail signatures. You can choose to insert via a URL, your Google Drive, or upload from your computer.
Since we’ve already downloaded the images of the icons, we’ll choose “Upload.”
You have to insert the images one by one. Further, ensuring that your cursor is where you want the image to appear makes the process easier, as you don’t have to move it later.
If you think your images need to be resized, you can do so by clicking next to the image you want to resize. This will open up options below the image. The image we selected was the right size, so it’s being used in the original size. You can remove the image from here as well.
Step 6: Hyperlink images to your socials
Once you have the images of the icons aligned and in the placement you want, it’s time to hyperlink those images. This makes it easy for readers to click through to your profiles. Select the icon you want to hyperlink and click the “hyperlink” button in the menu below.
This will open a new window where you can paste a link to your appropriate social media profile and click “OK.” Do the same for all the social media icons you’ve inserted in your signature.
Step 7: Remember to save!
Now, you’re almost done. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click “Save Changes.”
And that’s it! That’s how to add social media icons to your Gmail signature.
Now when you start composing a new message and if you have signatures enabled for new emails, you’ll see your signatures with your social media icons like this. If you’d like to change your signature entirely and make a new one, you can also do that easily. Learn how to change your Gmail signature.
